Description
"The bright North Star of independent cinema: the Ginga Gahosha Film Club – this legendary group of visual beauties.
Between dream and reality, image aestheticians engraved invisible "atmospheres" and "memories" on film. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of their first film, An Incident of Night (1977), as well as the 30 years since Minatotani's passing, all of Ginga Gahosha's films have been digitized.
The Ginga Gahosha Film Club was founded in Sapporo in 1977 by Isao Yamada and manga artist Yumekichi Minatotani.
Both artists, deeply inspired by the literary works of Inagaki Tadaho and Miyazawa Kenji, transposed ideas and images into their own visual language through 8mm and 16mm films."
