Description
British artist and filmmaker Ben Rivers is internationally renowned for a body of bold experimental works situated between documentary and fiction. Often centered on characters who have isolated themselves from society, he crafts a world where the familiar becomes strange. Using old cameras, a variety of film stocks, and hand-developing his films, he produces images that often evoke found, archival, or vintage footage, thus nourishing the narrative. Breaking with the traditional codes of documentary cinema, Rivers' films are evocative and sensory, imbued with a touch of horror and mystery, and constitute an entirely unique personal vision.
