CONTENTS
- Nikon, Nizo or Beaulieu? Which is the best? New York film professional Zach Moore tells us about the Super 8 camera he chose after extensive testing. And as always: QR codes lead directly to film samples.
- A young Ukrainian Super 8 star. A man flees Ukraine to continue doing what he loves most in Berlin: making films and videos. And he did it effortlessly and brilliantly, even though it was Artem Shapirenko's first time using this format.
- An old Ukrainian film star. Another Ukrainian: Yakov Bogolpolsky, aka Boolsky, aka Bolsey. A Jew of Russian origin, he became a citizen of the world. He first settled in Switzerland, then emigrated to the United States. Wherever he was, he invented cameras: Bol, Bolex, Bolsey. Super 8 magazine tells his life story through many prototypes that were never commercialized.
- Snowboarding in Super 8. Wojciech Nieżychowski, from Warsaw, immortalizes his snow adventures with a Beaulieu. His Polish Colombia Boys love snowboarding – and he's always part of it. Sometimes on the board, sometimes behind the camera, sometimes both.
- When's the new one coming? You can find beautiful prototypes from Logmar and Yolk on the internet, but still nothing concrete from Kodak. And the chances of a new 16mm or Super 8 camera? At least work is progressing on one of them.
- Three guys heading east. A western with an invisible horse. It could only be the idea of three crazy Super 8 filmmakers: Gunnar Grah, Andreas Kersten and Florian Rau. They shot their Italian-western parody in Brandenburg – on a newly invented Cinemascope imitation. The result is titled "Acht Dosen Westwärts" (Eight Cans Westward).
- Steven Spielberg gives the spotlight to small-format films. In his new film, "The Fabelmans," the director retraces his youth. 8mm and 16mm are widely used. We present images from the film and offer you quotes from the American master about his beginnings in cinema.
- News: Orwo, Andec, Deidesheim. A new laboratory in France, another in Australia, a couple traveling in Super 8, competitions, changes at Andec, curiosities from Orwo. And a preview of Deidesheim, the ultimate film fair.
