Description
The collaborations between Friedman and Weinbren constitute a body of filmic experiments and aesthetic and conceptual investigations, realized as experiments within networks of complex artistic associations. These often suggest underlying patterns in their construction, even if they don't always reveal in a direct or obvious manner their generative organizational systems. On the contrary, these works rely on a hybrid authorial mode, blending laborious organizational practices with less controlled structures, such as the integration of live improvised performances, arbitrary patterns, or organizational strategies determined by chance. In addition to their recourse to opaque artistic techniques, sometimes seemingly paradoxical, these films often employ other methodologies that further complicate their analysis, including important but partially concealed elements of ideological critique, documentary contingency, and conceptual humor.
