About the filmmaker:
Phil Solomon is an internationally renowned American experimental filmmaker who has worked in both film and video. Solomon often incorporates found footage or self-shot images into his works and uses photochemical and optical processes to create expressive textures and images. He was a professor of film history and aesthetics at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His film In Memoriam (Mark LaPore) was designated as one of the ten best experimental films of the year by the Village Voice. Solomon's works have been presented at numerous film festivals, he has had three solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art and was represented in two Whitney Biennials. His films have received several awards and are part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Massachusetts College of Art, Binghamton University, Hampshire College, the Chicago Art Institute, San Francisco State University, the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and the Oberhausen film collection.
