Description
This two-disc Blu-ray box set offers a comprehensive overview of the Quay Brothers' remarkable career. It contains twenty-four of their short films—three British premieres and five world premieres—and also includes Christopher Nolan's new documentary short, Quay (2015), which reveals the inner workings of the brothers' studio.
Since the late 1970s, the Quay Brothers, identical twins, have made a unique contribution to animation in general and puppet film in particular. Filtering obscure visual, literary, musical, cinematic, and philosophical influences through their utterly distinctive sensibility, each Quay Brothers film commands attention through hypnotic control of set design, camera, lighting, music, and movement, evoking half-remembered dreams that are by turns mesmerizing and deeply unsettling.
