Description
"This film comes from my readings of A Thousand and One Nights. But unlike those Arabian tales, my stories are all part of real life, even though they sometimes venture elsewhere, beyond daily routine. There are some twenty-five different stories in this film. Their protagonists are all my friends and I myself am part of them, like the storyteller in A Thousand and One Nights. You will recognize some people, and not others. The fact that you know some of them has no bearing on these stories: after all, we all recognize John Wayne or Annette Bening, but in their stories, they are no longer those we know. The subjects of these stories cover a broad emotional and geographical range, from personal anxieties to anecdotes. These are not grand stories for the Big Screen: they are all great personal stories... And yes, you will also find a few provocations... But that's me, one of my many selves. The simple question 'What is a story?' is a provocation."
