Description
The Mechanics immerses viewers in the world of Chinese artisan workshops set up on the streets of Phnom Penh, through compositions worthy of paintings. Public space transforms into a workshop, right next to hair salons. Mekong boat engines are disassembled and meticulously serviced with care and precision by oil-covered hands. Just steps away, barbers shave and groom delicately, all in the midst of lively traffic. Confucian altars, carefully arranged, create a private oasis in contrast to the surrounding chaotic bustle. The whole is orchestrated like a musical collage, subtly enhanced by Hong Kong sound designer Makin Fung Bin Fai. A gentle musical flow, almost like a requiem for a world in full transformation.
