Description
The films of award-winning British artist Sarah Pucill have been acclaimed at film festivals worldwide and presented in venues and galleries internationally. At the heart of her practice lies a reflection on mortality and on the very materiality of the cinematic process. Several of her early films unfold within domestic space, where the concrete reality of the home becomes a gateway to a complex, multilayered psychic universe. Her most recent film, Phantom Rhapsody, marks a turning point. Through its striking use of black and white, the film explores the appearance and disappearance of the phantom in relation to the partial visibility of lesbian sexuality in the canons of cinema and art history. The DVD brings together seven selected films spanning two decades of Pucill's practice.
