Description
Limited edition Blu-ray of Sarah Pucill's feature film, Confessions to the Mirror, in which she extends the study begun in her previous film Magic Mirror (2013), in response to the writings and photographs of Surrealist artist Claude Cahun, through tableaux vivants that re-enact her images and words.
"In Confessions to the Mirror, Sarah Pucill continues her spellbinding conversation with Claude Cahun, begun in her film Magic Mirror (2013). Inspired by Cahun's photographs, Pucill composes prodigious tableaux vivants which she interweaves with her writings, creating a multivocal filmic space. From there, she offers not only a poetic and personal reading of Cahun's work, but her extraordinary aesthetic opens a place where Cahun's voice-vision continues to live through and with Pucill's gaze."
— Dr Katja Gorska, author of L'Objet garde et livre son secret. Claude Cahun's Poetry of the Object (2020, transcript Verlag).
