Description
"The hard core of the Boris Lehman cinematic galaxy, its constellation or central nebula, even its black hole that absorbs neighboring projects, is undoubtedly Babel. The filmmaker portrays himself as both a singular and common representative of all humanity—he was bound to end up playing Christ. Extraordinary events are banished, but so is everything that doesn't belong to the character's universe. Friends, places, occupations are purged of their banality by being filmed. Boris neither fictionalizes nor epicizes them, he immortalizes them by appropriating their image. Because cinema is a mode of vampirization. (...) "To be filmed is to be loved." That's why, in return for the gifts of so many friends, he films them. That's why, desperately, he films himself."
