Films for 2 x 8 mm cameras have a width of 16 mm and are ready to be inserted into the Super 8 camera in subdued light, in small (7.5 m) or large (30.5 m) reels. The single film is exposed in the camera at the end (first half of the 8 mm). Then, the full take-up reel is turned over, reloaded and exposed (second half of the 8 mm). The film thus returns to its original reel (blue for black and white or red for color).
