Description
Author of over 200 didactic films, Jean Painlevé weaves a unique link between technological innovations in scientific cinema and avant-garde poetic flights close to Jean Vigo, Sergei Eisenstein, Antonin Artaud, or the Surrealists.
The filmmaker devoted his life to a lush and passionate radiography of the infinitely small, with a particular predilection for aquatic fauna. As a visionary, he made his singular images vibrate to the most eclectic contemporary music.
