Description
CARICE VAN HOUTEN lends her voice to the main character Alice in Jan Svankmajer's first feature film. This cinematic version of Lewis Carroll's world-renowned novel, Alice in Wonderland, is a sinister combination of animated puppets and live action. Alice (Kristýna Kohoutová) finds herself in a wondrous world when she follows a talking rabbit down its burrow. In Wonderland, things are a bit different and strange creatures and odd characters pass by Alice. Wonderland is a world between dream and nightmare from which Alice hopes to awaken. In Svankmajer's hands, Wonderland becomes more wondrous than ever. And with its macabre nuance, it is no longer a pure children's story...
