Description
"While engaging in a process of deconstruction, Peter Tscherkassky also acknowledges the power of cinema, using its control over space and time to uncover the energies of movement and history, of the violence inherent in both revolt and confinement. As the materials of the moving image undergo transformations today and the very term film may become anachronistic, his films clearly show that a radical cinema does not simply fetishize the materials with which filmmakers work, but rather interrogates these materials and forms for the energies they contain and the meanings they can release, through the work and processes in which filmmaker and spectator participate. The future is always arriving, even as the past is constantly reworked and reinvented in the dark rooms of films."
