Description
"Featuring John Lennon and Yoko Ono, this film is a document of Yoko Ono's solo exhibition, THIS IS NOT HERE, presented at the Everson Museum in New York in 1971. It is a record of the artist's retrospective, in which John Lennon participated as a special guest.
The film opens with Yoko's speech at the press conference, which continues throughout the documentary. She speaks about "radical art," a non-violent art, and defends the concept of "total communication." Many of Yoko Ono's major works and installations appear, with the camera following Yoko and John through the exhibition spaces. Invited artists included Allen Ginsberg and George Maciunas, among others. The film closes with a "piano piece" by Yoko, in which several people—including John and Yoko—continuously strike the closed surface of a piano, producing a striking effect."
