Description
A long-neglected classic of Canadian experimental cinema and a triumph of erotic art, Palace of Pleasure is a film of which Gene Youngblood wrote: "See it and you will see a window on the future: a Joyce-and-Burroughs-like assemblage of bold and poetic surreal visions of physical love in all its forms."
In 1967, John Hofsess made The Palace of Pleasure, a therapeutic exploration of the erotic imagination presented on dual screen. Conceived as a trilogy, only the first two sequences were completed.
The first part, Redpath 25, is a fantasized encounter between a young woman and her dream lover; the second part, Black Zero, is a macabre and ritualistic vision of sexual freedom and domestic life, a haunting image that lingers long after the screen goes dark.
