"Le Printemps is one of the rare films that stand on equal footing with the most modern novels... It is, for example, a film that loops back on itself, like the 360-degree horizontal panoramic that closes it. It is a film filled with analogies, correspondences, self-quotations. Above all, it is a film whose pretext, a news item, remains only a pretext and whose essence is what Barthes calls catalyses, that is to say all the elements that do not directly serve the narrative, but on the contrary slow it down (and subvert it).
