Description
" ...Who creates? and for whom? What matters is that Hanoun does not answer these questions in a grandiloquent manner. On the contrary, far from showing a series of decisive acts, his gaze lingers on the dead times in the life of his young and beautiful protagonist. We play with fragments and mise-en-scène, reframing, the use of frames (doors, windows, the mirror as tableau vivant) and all of this places us before a sort of catalogue of repetitive acts, where drama or character development are absent. These moments marked by pure banality ultimately allow the true subject of the film to flow through the interstices of the narrative... a whole series of scenes, sequences, images that any other filmmaker would have cut, deleted, removed, since they don't necessarily contribute to the suspense or climax of the story, nor to its dramatic progression, but which, thanks to the distance established, have allowed Hanoun to bring what is the key and meaning of his film: the confrontation or controversial relationship between desire and reality. Thus, the questions who creates? and for whom? must be reformulated in a more precise way: what one wishes for and what one wants to change about reality in order to attain that desire."
