Description
"While Garrel's autobiographical gestures in his later works have become familiar, his early work with Nico remains largely unknown and understudied. Yet it was this young Garrel who captivated French cinephiles like Henri Langlois, who considered his film La Cicatrice intérieure (1972) a masterpiece, or Gilles Deleuze, who praised Garrel's 'cinema of revelation' in 1985, in his second book on cinema. Deleuze's reading, based almost exclusively on films from the 1960s and 1970s, describes a 'liturgy of bodies,' a cinema imbued with devotion, almost sacred."
