Description
"At the end of the 19th century, glass plates were used to capture the negative. Filmmaker Siegfried A. Fruhauf finds such a plate in his friends' storage materials. In Vintage Print, he digitizes and illuminates the photograph anew, interweaving the analog and the digital, traversing the modern era—from photography through film to the digital world. The resulting movement thus stands in opposition to the quiet meditation of landscape contemplation. In the soundtrack, an almost chronological narrative unfolds, accompanying the image in all its restlessness, like a frame."

"The right angle, or 90-degree angle, serves as the standard unit of order. Whether optimizing storage space, planning land, or tracing the ideal proportions of the human body, the grid serves as a universal criterion. Squares stack into cubes; the pictorial surface transforms into relief against a background of precise lines. In Fuddy Duddy, we see something resembling a big bang, with energy that results from the struggle between order and chaos. It is a film of flexion and rupture, in which the right angle wins a magnificent Pyrrhic victory."
