Youth, in the "Isouian" sense used by Maurice Lemaître in this film, is not solely composed of students.
According to Isidore Isou, it encompasses "whatever their age, any individual who does not yet coincide with their function, who strives and struggles to reach the desired agent center." Also called "externals," youth depends on "internals," a social group of active individuals contributing to the country's economy. Highlighting the key role of youth and organizing the fusion of the political and the artistic, the Lettrists lay the groundwork for a reflection that will be further developed by the demands of the Situationist International and those of the May 68 movements.
