Bolex produced a wide range of grips for their cameras. The very first grips they manufactured were designed for round-base models and were among the most sought-after accessories at the time of their release. The earliest grips were exceptionally well built, often machined from a solid block of metal. Later grips were equally well constructed, but lighter and easier to attach to the cameras. They also incorporated features allowing the camera to be started and certain lenses to be controlled.

This grip is designed for use with the H16 and H8 flat-base cameras. A quick-release mechanism allows it to be mounted and removed instantly. An adapter fixed to the base of the camera locks the grip in position when the lever is engaged.
