Bolex H16 RX4
Quality Bolex cameras are becoming increasingly difficult to find these days, so we have decided to offer one for rent for your next 16mm project. This RX4 model camera has been fully serviced by an experienced technician and is in perfect mechanical and optical condition. The rental includes a Kern Switar 25mm lens in C-mount. Two additional lenses are available for rent: a Kern Switar 16mm and a Yvar 75mm. All lenses have been cleaned, lubricated, adjusted, and tested.
The rental fee is €75 per day for the camera and the 25mm lens, with each additional lens at €25 extra, or all three can be rented at a flat rate of €60. Other accessories such as the Declic H grip with trigger, additional filter holders, and an octometer viewfinder are available upon request. A deposit of €2,000 + €500 per lens is required upon rental. The deposit can be paid by bank transfer, cheque, or credit card and will be held for the duration of the rental. Equipment must be returned during shop opening hours, Monday to Friday, 11am–7pm. Weekly rate: €300. Weekend rate: €112.50. Rentals are in-store only and are for shoots taking place in France. Shipping of equipment is not available.
H-16 REX-4 16mm Camera (serial no. 213717) – 1964
DIMENSIONS: 9" x 6" x 3"
WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 12 oz; approximately 8½ lbs with magazine.
EXTERIOR BODY: Highly polished duralumin body, covered in genuine Moroccan leather. Metal parts are chrome-plated.
FILM CAPACITY: 100 ft (30 m) daylight loading spools of 16mm film. The saddle accepts a 400 ft (120 m) magazine.
THREADING: Automatic threading and loop formation. The film leader is simply inserted into a channel leading to the feed sprocket. The trigger is pressed and the film is then automatically threaded through the entire mechanism.
MOTOR: Constant speed, spring-motor mechanism; governor-controlled. The large winding handle folds down and locks to the camera when not in use. The spring cannot be overwound. The external 8:1 and 1:1 drive shaft allows for the attachment of an electric motor.
TURRET: Rotating turret with folding lever; accommodates three interchangeable C-mount RX-type lenses; integrated turret locking lever.
VIEWFINDER: 10x magnification; reflex viewing with semi-reflecting prism system; ground glass focusing; adjustable to the user's eyesight. An octometer viewfinder is available upon request.
FILTER SLOT: The built-in slot holds a gelatin filter behind the taking lens and in front of the shutter.
VARIABLE SPEED: 12, 16, 18, 24, 32, 48, and 64 frames per second.
TRIGGER RELEASE: Enables continuous exposures with a fingertip release at the front of the camera. A side release allows for locked, hands-free shooting or single-frame exposures.
VARIABLE SHUTTER: Variable shutter at 133 degrees; manually operated to reduce exposure time, or used with the Rexofader accessory to produce fade-ins and fade-outs.
FOOTAGE COUNTER: Accurately adds and subtracts in forward or reverse and automatically resets to zero when film is reloaded into the camera.
AUDIBLE FOOTAGE INDICATOR: A distinct click signals the passage of every 10 inches of film through the gate. This mechanism can be disengaged, if desired, by simply moving a lever. Frame Counter: The dual dial counts frames individually and cumulatively; adds frames when moving forward and subtracts when the film is wound back. The dial can be manually reset at any time.
SINGLE FRAME: Time-lapse and animation are possible using the side release button or an accessory cable release and adapter; the I-T lever allows for timed or instant single exposures.
MANUAL REWIND: The clutch disengages the spring motor and allows forward and reverse movement without running down the spring; enables dissolves and multiple exposures.
BASE PLATE: Contains three tripod sockets: two 3/8" threads and one 1/4" thread. The front of the base is removable for easy attachment of the Bolex Matte Box.
