This book retraces the combat of the director Guy Debord in the labyrinth of the second part of the XXth century's history. It studies his poetry, inseparable from the political rejection of any compromise. His work is based on the principle of negativity, which points in the heart of a dialectical contradiction: to produce an art at the same time insisting on it's impossibility. Progressively abandoning the revolutionary horizon, Debord transforms this negativity into "evil", the only way to escape the bourgeois ideology of well-being.
