Written in 1966 to "clarify a couple of details about filmmaking techniques which could be useful to some filmmakers", this text has two functions. On the one hand it can be read as an extremely detailed manual and on the other hand as a mind manifesto on "Brakhagian thought", which is both visionary and experimental. This is certainly one of the most fascinating and captivating texts by Brakhage, written directly after his film "Dog Star Man" (1961-64).
