Depuis que son fils Menno (*1967) a rejoint cette « entreprise familiale d’art »\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e comme partenaire à part entière en 1989, leurs films sont devenus plus rapides et plus colorés. Mais surtout, l’orientation artistique a légèrement évolué, passant d’une focalisation sur la photographie et le film à une combinaison avec le théâtre et la performance. De Nooijer a consciemment opté pour un mélange des disciplines traditionnelles fondé sur les idéaux du Gesamtkunstwerk\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e et du théâtre interdisciplinaire de l’École du Bauhaus d’Oscar Schlemmer.
