As a director, Yamada has created several works, including \"Anmonaito no sasayaki wo kiita\" (I Heard the Whisper of the Ammonite, 1992), \"Jouhatsu Tabinikki\" (The Odyssey of the Soul, 2003), adapted from an essay by Yoshiharu Tsuge, and \"Shutorumu undo Doranku\" (Sturm und Drang, 2014). In addition to his film work, Yamada is also known for his activities in manga, painting, and graphic design.
