Directed with improvisational flair by Adolfas Mekas, co-founder of Film Culture magazine with his brother Jonas (Walden), Hallelujah the Hills follows two impulsive young men who are in love with the same woman (played by two different actresses). A burlesque love letter to cinema, this fiercely independent wonder laid the groundwork for all the free-spirited filmmakers who followed.

When two young men fall in love with the same woman, they each pursue her at different times of the year and in different contexts. Written and directed by Adolfas Mekas, this film is an interesting technique in that it comes straight out of the 60s by mocking its own attempts at seriousness. Even the young woman being pursued is played by two different actresses depending on the season in which she is pursued. An interesting and ultimately endearing film.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1000/3034/9643/files/processed_DVD--Hallelujah_the_Hills.webp?v=1773411773
